Open House and a SALE!!!

Happy Monday!

I thought I'd share a few pictures from open house.
My kiddos worked so hard all year long and it was
great to get to display all their fantastic projects!
I also love to get to walk around the school and
see what the other grades are up to...don't get to do that enough!

In our reading series, there is a unit all about animal camouflage.
We read a story about a chameleon and I found this idea a couple
of years ago on opencourtresources.com.
There were not any blackline masters available so
I traced a picture of a chameleon and came up with this.
The kids love this activity!
The title of this unit is called, "Look Again," and they think
its so fun to show these to their parents and tell them they have
to look again from the other side to see how the chameleon changes!

2nd side:

Another reading unit we just finished before open house was
all about courage.
I LOVE the blog Buzzing About Second Grade!
She teaches with the Imagine It! series, which I think is
a new version or similar to Open Court, which is what I use.
A lot of the units and stories seem to be the same and she has some
fabulous ideas. I came across this post not too long ago. It was from
last year and I loved the idea!
I made the printables I used myself, but then not long after that, she made
them available in her shop here. Check them out!

We also displayed our Flat Stanley projects!
This is one of my favorite things we do all year,
and the parents get to see their students' projects
for the first time.

This was the first year we used a grade level map to show
where everyone's flat person went. It was a hit!

We had many more projects on display, but I can't seem to find
the rest of the pictures on my computer and the blogger photo uploader
is taking f.o.r.e.v.e.r.

I just put my TpT shop on sale. Everything is 20% off for a couple of
days, and I'm sure you've heard about the TpT code for an extra 8% off!
Feel free to take a look!

TpT is also not letting me upload anything right now because of all the sale
traffic, but as soon as I can, I'll be putting my Measurement Mania unit up for sale!
I'm even thinking of selling it EXTRA cheap for a few days in honor
of Teacher Appreciation Week!

Be back SOON!

Happy Monday!

My kiddos are making these tomorrow and thought
maybe you guys would like these too!

Measurement Freebie!!!

Here's a little measurement freebie for you!

Remember when I showed you here a few weeks ago how
I was working on this...

Well, I did NOT think it would take me this long to complete
my measurement unit about length...so I thought
since you have all be soooo patient,
I would share one of the activities with you for FREE!
Click here or on the pics below to download a copy for yourself. :)

This is an acitivity that my students did when we first began
our measurement unit. They have to figure out what
attributes could be measured for each object.
There are 12 different object picture cards and a
recording sheet included.
The picture cards come in color and black and white
versions.

I sure hope to have the rest of the unit ready tomorrow evening,
but we shall see... :)

Enjoy the FREEBIE!!!

what I'm working on...

I'm soooo glad that tomorrow is Thursday!!!

I have SO much to get done before our open house
next week...yikes!
The kiddos will be displaying work from our Open Court Reading
unit all about courage, our Flat Stanley projects, and
a lot more.

Here's a little preview of what I'm working on this week!

I'm having a lot of fun creating these measurement
activities and games. :)
Hopefully...it will be done soon.
I'm working on it a little bit each night and finishing
up only what I need for the next day's lesson.
So at the end, I'll have a little measurement unit
all about length ready for ya!
I'm also hoping to do one for capacity too since
that's what is up next in our math series....enVision math anyone???

Also.....I KNOW you Kansas and Missouri teachers are out there.
Leave me your email if you want to meet up!
Kelley and I had a great time a few months ago when we met
up for lunch and want to do it again but the more the merrier!!!

We KNOW meeting the two of us is on your bucket list,
soooooooooo why don't you just admit it?!?!?
Ha!
Totally joking...
I would just be thrilled to meet other local
teachers and be encouraged and inspired by YOU!
Let me know, ladies :)

Have a great rest of your week!

I got tagged...and a thank you!

Happy Easter!

Wishing I had tomorrow off too, but nope, its
back to school I go!

Thank you to Jenny at Luckeyfrog's Lilypad
for giving me the One Lovely Blog award and
Sarah from Squirrel-Bottom Diaries for the Top 10 award. :)
You ladies rock!

Miss Kelley tagged me last week and I'm FINALLY getting
to answer her questions so here we go...

1. If you could travel to any place where would you go?
Anywhere with a beach!!! Maybe Mexico since I've never been
there.

2. What current fashion trend are you loving right now?
Colored jeans. LOVING my new pair of coral jeans :)

3. What current education trend are you currently loving right now?
Ummm...blogging! It's pretty much an idea-overload and its awesome!

4. What is your go to food or snack?
I love those Atkins milk chocolate shakes. Great source of
protein and does the job of a mid-morning snack at school
and keeps me full until lunch! I can also often be spotted
with string cheese. :)

5. Are you a flats or heels girl?
I'm 5' 10" so I'm definitely a flats girl. I do own some heels but just
don't wear them that much because I'm already at the height I want
to be!

6. If you could change anything about yourself what would you change?
I would love to have a better short-term memory. Seriously. It's like
someone comes and takes it away from you forever when you have
a child.

7. What is your favorite sport to watch or play?
College basketball.

8. What are you looking forward to doing this summer?
Being home with my daughter. Hopefully organizing my house.
It is seriously driving me insane!

9. What is your favorite piece of technology?
iPad

10. What is the best movie you have seen recently?
Hunger Games!

That was fun, Kelley!

Ok, I'm seriously horrible at these tag things.
So I want to tag
all my readers! Answer this question in the comments or blog
about it and share the link below!

I'd love to find some new shows to watch...so tell me
what is your favorite TV shows?!?!?

I've got a couple favorites:
Guiliana and Bill
Bethenny Ever After
Duck Dynasty (my husband is an avid hunter, and this show
is HILARIOUS. seriously.)

Oh, just because we are playing for a little somethin'
called the NCAA National Championship...that's why!!!

It's been an exciting last few weeks for Jayhawk
fans and we couldn't be more surprised EXCITED!

Everything in my store is 20% off from now through this Wednesday.
Check it out here.

Win or lose...proud of my Jayhawks!

On another random note....I'm pretty exhausted from this weekend.
However, it was jam-packed with plenty of fun along with
all the basketball!

My baby turned 3!

Can't wait to share some pics of her Lorax themed party. :)

Hope you have a great start to your week and
